Wrapped in farm-show branding, the new Farm Progress Show’s official craft beer is Riggs Beer Company's standard American lager.

"The majority of its grain is grown by us on our farm,” Matt Riggs says. "We use six row barley, which is an older heirloom variety of barley that all American beer used to be made with.”

Cut by a hint of ultra-low oil white corn, the barley gives the beer a nutty flavor. 

“Nothing extreme,” Matt says, noting all its ingredients are sourced from nearby central Illinois farms. “It’s 5% alcohol, lightly hopped.”

The Farm Progress Show Beer will be on-tap at the 2025 Farm Progress Show in Decatur, Ill., at the Syngenta Beer Tent at the show (11 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily) and is available to purchase outside the show grounds at Friar Tuck, which is about 4 miles northwest of the show site in Forsyth, among other local outlets. 

“It’s going to be a fun addition to the show,” says Matt Jungmann, senior national events director for Farm Progress, about the show’s official beer.

Riggs Brewing Company, which also sells the beer, is open for visitors Thursday and Friday from 3 to 10 p.m., Saturday from noon to 10 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 8 p.m.
